Health Fair Held for Bowling Green Hispanic Population

By  |

The WKU Institute for Rural Health and the Barren River District Health Department teamed-up to put on a health fair today for the local Hispanic population.

Medical and dental exams were provided to educate some on preventative measures that can be taken for better health.

One organizer says health fairs like this are sometimes the only way minority populations can get the medical attention they need.

"There's a language and cultural barrier along with an economic barrier between not just the Hispanic population but any minority community in Bowling Green, and just by offering these services to them it will keep them informed and we'll have a better community," says WKU Student and Health Fair Organizer, Chaz Arnold.

The event was provided free of charge, and the medical professionals who participated donated their time.
