As the rain fell last night it brought along with it some flooding.

When Tim Houk woke up this morning and put his feet to the floor he felt something he shouldn't have, about ten inches of water.

"What are we going to do? We need to get a boat!," he said.

Houk moved into this home about six months ago.

He knew that there was the potential for flooding, but he admits he wasn't quite prepared.

"A year ago this week that it was one of those hundred year floods and not really expecting anything like that again and didn't really have any caution so we weren't prepared," he said.

He used sixty pound bags of sand to line the driveway. He put them down last week to stop the flow of water from coming to the house but as the rain kept coming and kept falling that sand really didn't do a whole lot.

When he noticed the flooding this morning, Hoak said he had to leave some things in the water, but made sure to take the valuables upstairs.

"Well I had some books. I had taken a trip to Ireland ten or fifteen years ago and I had purchased some books there and they got some water damage I don't know if they can be restored or repaired or not," he said.

Although he was understandably frustrated Tuesday morning, he is now taking everything in stride.

"Well I didn't have my coffee until twenty minutes later so I was you know. As soon as my feet hit the water, I realized what had happened and at that point there is nothing you can do. No reason to get mad so it's just like, wake up, deal with it and move on," he said.

Houk says that when the water recedes a little bit then he will start to pump it out of the basement and back into the ponds in the yard.
