PEMBROKE, Ky. (WBKO) -- Hemp is coming along fast and growing well.
A plot the Todd County, Christian County line is being grown by a local farmer.
There are several plots being grown around the state most by universities.
Hemp can be used to make dashboards, door panels, clothing and more.
The Kentucky Hemp Coalition hopes this will be an alternative cash crops to tobacco.
"Eventually it's not going to become profitable for farmers to grow tobacco if we continue the direction we are going in the legislature. The goal is really to find a replacement cash crop for tobacco," said Katie Moyer, Kentucky Hemp Coalition.
Hemp is finally here after controversy on the state and federal levels.
It is expected to come up as a political topic in the U.S. Senate race and the Governor's race.
