BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Heavy rain in eastern Kentucky has resulted in at least two water rescues.
In Knox County, a young driver tried to cross a flooded bridge in his pickup truck Wednesday, but the vehicle was swept into Stinking Creek. The driver, who wouldn't give his name, told WKYT-TV in Lexington he saw a car make it safely across, so he followed it. The youth and two other teens ended up atop the cab after the stream pinned the truck against some trees.
County emergency management workers rescued them and a girl was taken to a hospital for hypothermia.
Two boys looking for turtles ended up in rain-swollen Elkhorn Creek in Scott County and WLEX-TV reported neighbors formed a human chain to rescue them Wednesday.
