Park spokeswoman Lisa Jackson says visitors can find directions on the park's website, follow the brown highway signs or call (800) 678-8813 to check their route.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- People traveling to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington for the Southern Lights holiday extravaganza should consider ignoring mobile mapping apps and GPS devices for directions to the display.

Hundreds of drivers are finding themselves led to a back entrance to the park, through a tunnel under Interstate 75 and to the Barton Brothers Farm grain elevator.

The horse park and the state have put up signs advising people to follow posted directions instead of relying on phones or GPS. With heavy traffic expected on this last weekend before Christmas, the park is increasing efforts to let people know how to get there.

Park spokeswoman Lisa Jackson says visitors can find directions on the park's website, follow the brown highway signs or call (800) 678-8813 to check their route.
