"This was just an excellent opportunity to just give back a little to the community", said Greg Williams, Co-Director of Jam for Coats.

ALVATON, Ky. (WBKO) -- One mans small passion for music lead to a big event to help a local charity, making him this weeks Hometown Hero.

It's Paul Creasy's "Man Cave", what he calls The Neon Flamingo, but it temporarily turned into a coat closet for those in need across our community.

"At one point we had 71 coats inside The Neon Flamingo", said Paul Creasy.

Paul was listening to the radio one day when he heard about The Coats For Kids Program and decided to put on a concert for the cause.

"I decided we would have a "Jam For Coats", I got a hold of my friend Greg Williams and we put it together and challenged everybody that came out to The Neon Flamingo to bring a coat", said Creasy.

Paul says he felt collecting these coats was an important thing for him to do.

"I was there one time and didn't have a coat and I was cold. So I remember those days and I was able to give back and give back to the community, so I always try to help if I can. That was one thing I felt that I could do, and do a good job with it, to get some coats out there for those kids that need them. It's going to be a cold winter", said Creasy.

Bands that participated say it was more than just playing a song.

"This was just an excellent opportunity to just give back a little to the community", said Greg Williams, Co-Director of Jam for Coats.

Paul's goal was 50 coats and he exceeded that goal quickly.

"I couldn't believe it, when I got here there were quite a few and be-time the night was over with the pool table was just running over with coats", said Williams.

Paul feels like it was a huge success and wants to continue doing Jam For Coats each year.

By the end of the collection Paul had collected a total of 105 coats for the Coats For Kids Program.
