A group of students at Drakes Creek Middle School's leadership program are helping those affected by heart disease.
Hoops for heart raises money for the American Heart Association. For $25, students can be sponsored to play basketball against the district champion DCMS gators basketball team.
Some students say Hoops for Heart is close to their hearts.
"My dad had a heart attack when I was little, and my whole family has heart diseases," said DCMS Hoops for Heart Co-chair Lauren Scipioni.
"My aunt died from a heart attack and she died instantly, and she left behind two kids and a husband, and I just want to give back to her," said DCMS Hoops for Heart Chair Jack Blair.
If you are interested in helping their cause, you can send donations to Drakes Creek Middle School at 704 Cypress Wood Way, Bowling Green, Ky 42104. Checks should be made out to the American Heart Association for Hoops for Heart.
