Hope for the Homeless to Benefit Family Resource Centers

By Lindsey Yates |

What if on a rainy day like today you didn't have the comfort of your home?

The Realtors Hope for the Homeless event aims to bring awareness to homelessness in Bowling Green.

Starting yesterday they are braving the elements and camping out through Monday to collect canned goods and hygiene items to benefit Family Resource Centers and Hotel Inc.

By staying outside they hope to get a better understanding of what it truly means to be homeless.

"We're in the business of selling homes but if you think about it we have so many homeless people who want to be able to afford homes, that's the American dream. We need to be aware of how many people here are homeless, especially children. We are trying to be under the elements and experience what a lot of kids and adults are experiencing."

The event has collected nearly $3,000 worth of goods so far.

If you would like to donate you can drop off items in the parking lot of South Central Bank on Campbell Lane from now until Monday at 9a.m.
