Hot Dog, Can Cause Shutdown of Covington Street

COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- A partially eaten hot dog and an empty gas can prompted police in Covington to call in the Cincinnati Bomb Squad and shut down part of a street.

The trash appeared to have wires coming out of it as the gas can sat on top of aluminum foil outside the IRS Gateway Center on Saturday morning.

The bomb squad's robot got a closer look and showed officers the bomb amounted to litter.

The scene was clear by 12:15 p.m.

Emergency units did shut down the block of 3rd Street between Madison Ave. and Scott Blvd. Police also moved the handful of workers inside to the south side of the IRS building until the scene was cleared.
