OHIO COUNTY, Ky. -- The Ohio County Sheriff's Office says it received a request on Saturday around 10:00 AM for a welfare check at the home of Patricia L. Ritz at 2071 Easton Road in Fordsville.
Deputies say when they arrived, they met with a neighbor who told them they had not seen Ritz in several days and were concerned something might be wrong. Deputies say the neighbor told them Ritz had previously said she was not feeling well.
Deputies say they performed a search around Ritz's home, which is located a distance back in the woods, and found human remains. The remains have been sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville.
Deputies say there were also between 15 and 25 dogs found at the home. The Ohio County Animal Control was notified.
Deputies say at this time, there does not appear to be indication of foul play or criminal acts that have been committed.
