BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- When you start your car in the morning you never know what your day will bring, especially when you have to fight icy roads. So when a dusting of snow caused hazardous road conditions throughout the night some chose to limit their trips to town.
"We limit our travel and we're preventive, we try not to get out in it, no more than we have too," said Brad Kirby of Alvaton.
After proper treatment, main roads may be clear, but it's traveling those side roads that can have you sliding. Precaution is key.
"There is less traffic for sure, and you have a tendency to see a lot of people slowing down and not getting to crazy," said Kirby.
These slick conditions have caused problems for many drivers lately. A recent wreck caused a house on Plum Springs Road to shake from its foundation, because a van slammed head on into the front of the home.
"There was just this BOOM! There's really no way to describe the sound besides anger. It's just there," said Kirby Gilstrap a resident of the home.
Price's Collision on Scottsville Road say they have several cars in the shop due to wrecks from the icy conditions.
"In the accidents we have people that's run into ditches, ran off the side of the roads, and a lot of them are several cars hitting each other. We've had rear end, front end, we've had a lot since the weather has been so slick and the roads have been so hazardous," said Matt Stumbo.
Just since last night Price's Collision wrote five estimates for cars that will need repair from sliding off the road.
There are still 42 days left of Winter, plenty of time for more snow and ice.
