HYDEN, Ky. (AP) -- An eastern Kentucky jail inmate has been recaptured for the second time within a week.
Police say 26-year-old Ricky Hendrix walked away from the Leslie County Detention Center in May and was recaptured Saturday.
Officials from the jail contacted police on Tuesday to say that Hendrix had made another escape. They say he was riding in a jail van when he kicked out a window, rolled onto a highway and ran away.
Leslie County court security officer Bryan Adams said Hendrix was coming from court, wearing leg irons and a belly chain.
Police scoured the area and found Hendrix hiding in a vehicle.
Hendrix was originally booked into the Leslie County Detention Center in April on charges including burglary and manufacturing methamphetamine.
