Scottsville, KY -- The Allen County School District has announced that Jason Bean will serve as the new Director of Technology. Bean replaces Lisa Simmons who retired in June.
“This will be my first leadership role and I’m very excited about it.,” Bean said. “I plan to work closely with the administration at each school and the central office to ensure my department is doing its best to provide the students and staff of Allen County the necessary technology tools to be the best they can be.”
Bean is a native of Brownsville and a 1995 graduate of Edmonson County High School. In 1997, Bean received an Associates Degree in Computer Applications from the Kentucky Advanced Technology Institute. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Technology from Western Kentucky University in 2007. Bean will begin his Masters Degree work later this year at Western Governors University.
Bean started as a computer technician with the Larue County School District in 1997 before moving to the Allen County School District in 2000. He has served as a computer technician and, most recently, as Network Administrator.
After working behind the scenes for the past 12 years, Bean is looking forward to helping the district’s students make the most of technology.
“I believe technology can engage students to learn like never before,” Bean explained. “I believe students that would normally struggle, can excel in their studies with the use of technology.”
Bean began his new position on July 1.
