Jim Crow Railcar Finds New Home
It was a slow and steady process Tuesday at the Historic RailPark and Train Museum in Bowling Green.
The Jim Crow Railcar was placed onto its final resting position.
Museum officials say it has been worth the year and a half wait for the exterior to be restored.
With it being one of five cars left from the Jim Crow era of segregation the moving process was extra tedious.
"Well this car only weighs 85,000 pounds so yes it is something that you don't just pick up with a bunch of volunteers and move. The folks that are moving this car have long supported our mission down here," says Board of Directors member Dorian Walker.
The moving team from Indiana and Tennessee assisted the railpark move an office car years ago.
Now that the Jim Crow car is in place efforts will focus on bringing the interior back to life.
