A jury recommended two life sentences for a western Kentucky man convicted of killing a woman in 2010.
The Paducah Sun reports formal sentencing for Mark Taylor is set for April 3. The same jury convicted Taylor on Thursday of murder, kidnapping and tampering with evidence in the death of 21-year-old CaSondra Evrard.
Evrard was found dead in a creek bed with stab wounds to her chest and cuts to her neck and face on Dec. 11, 2010.
The 12-person jury returned life sentences Friday on both the murder and kidnapping convictions, and the additional five years on the tampering conviction. The jury could have sentenced Taylor to death.
Six other people were charged in connection with the case. Five pleaded guilty, and one is scheduled for trial in March.
