BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The 4th of July holiday is just days away and the weather is expected to be perfect. However, one poor decision could ruin all the fun.
Kentucky State Police will set up checkpoints all over south central Kentucky during the long holiday weekend, but drinking and driving isn't the only safety issue they're worried about.
"Because of the heat, remember to take your kids with you. And your animals. With recent deaths of children dying cars that's something we want to try and prevent. Before you lock your door be sure you have everything in the car," said Trooper Jonathan Biven.
Police said it's also important to make sure you have your registration, driver's license, and insurance when driving to help all the checkpoints move quicker.
