MADISONSVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Health officials in western Kentucky say a man has died due to complications from the West Nile virus.
Hopkins County Health Department Director Denise Beach told The Messenger that test results received Thursday from the Center of Disease Control confirmed the man was infected with the virus. His identity wasn't released.
The newspaper reports it is the first death this year in Kentucky attributed to West Nile.
