Kentucky Among Slowest Internet States

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- A new report shows Kentucky is one of slowest states when it comes to internet speed.

The only state lower than Kentucky according to Akamai Technologies is Alaska. Kentucky, Arkansas, and Montana rank just above the country's most northern state.

According to Connected Nation, Warren County is ahead of most of the bluegrass. However, some areas are limited on their providers, something that could change soon.

"Alvaton for instance which happens to be an area that's growing and companies are interested in serving that area. I think we'll see quite a bit of an investment and better services in that area over the next several months and years ahead," said CNX Inc. CEO, Brian Mefford.

Connected Nation said the government allowing public property to provide a wider internet reach is what makes Warren County ahead of the game. The state with the quickest internet, Virginia.
