Kentucky to Share in $24M Education Grant

By  |

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $24 million grant to Kentucky and 21 other states to improve training for staff to better serve children with disabilities.

Kentucky will receive $1.13 million in the first year of the five-year grant. The state will partner with the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville to implement terms of the grant.

The state Department of Education says Kentucky will use the grant to work toward better preparing students with disabilities for college and careers by increasing academic achievement and closing achievement gaps as well as improve communication capacity and transition opportunities for those with greater disabilities.
