FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The Kentucky House has passed a bill to help finance the renovation of Rupp Arena and a new convention center in downtown Lexington.
But the bill's prospects in the Senate appear much more uncertain in the final days of this year's legislative session.
The measure that passed the House on Friday would allow Lexington officials to increase the local hotel tax to help pay for the construction.
Rupp Arena is home to the University of Kentucky men's basketball team.
Senate President Robert Stivers later said it's getting late in the session and senators need time to delve into the bill's details.
Friday marked the 51st day of the 60-day session.
Lawmakers also are considering a $65 million bond for Rupp Arena and the convention center.
The legislation is House Bill 544.
