Ky. Woman Dies After Being Struck By Lightning

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- A central Kentucky woman has died after being struck by lightning last week as thunderstorms passed through the area.

The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/Ndq1T3) reports 67-year-old Kathlyn Friend died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital on Saturday. She was struck by lightning Thursday evening while working outside on a farm she owned in Jessamine County.

Friend was a longtime attorney in Richmond who unsuccessfully ran for a seat on the Kentucky Court of Appeals in 1983 and 1991.
