MURRAY, Ky. (AP) -- A barn that had served as a landmark in Murray for a century before being destroyed by fire in September has been rebuilt.
Jackie and Clarkie Butterworth told the Murray Ledger & Times they weren't aware of how popular their tobacco barn on Kentucky 94 west of Murray had become until the fire.
The barn was used as a landmark by locals so they could tell they were about 3 miles from Murray. It also was the first entry to the Calloway County Quilt Trail.
Jackie Butterworth said he debated at first about whether to rebuild the structure. However, after hearing about how much the structure meant to the community, he says the decision was easy to make.
