Laurel County Jailer Jamie Mosley says his facility will soon take some inmates from the McCreary County Detention Center at the request of the state.
Mosley told The Times-Tribune that the Kentucky Department of Corrections made the request because the population at the Laurel County Detention Center has decreased over the last 60 days.
Mosley said the Corrections Department advised the jail it was necessary to relocate the inmates, even "if we have to have a mat on the floor."
Mosley said all medical expenses would be paid, and it would bring in approximately $10,000-$15,000 a month in additional revenue.
