LONDON, Ky. (AP) — Laurel County authorities are looking for a man the sheriff says ran away after a crash that hurt four people, including two children.
Sheriff John Root said a sport utility vehicle was weaving and being driven too fast Monday night when it ran off a road eight miles west of London and hit a tree. Root said six people were in the vehicle, but only one was with it when deputies arrived. Boys, ages 8 and 9, and two women were later found to have injuries and were taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Police found beer cans and whiskey bottles in the SUV. An arrest warrant was taken out for 30-year-old Elmer E. Oakley of London. Among the charges are third offense DUI and wanton endangerment.
