You could soon be driving a little faster on a local stretch of road.
Several South Central Kentucky lawmakers want to increase the speed limit on U.S 68 to Kentucky 80.
"I think they should raise the speed limit," says Odis Adamson.
Odis Adamson is one of many who says the time is right to bump up the speed limit on 68-80 from 55 to 60 miles per an hour.
His family recently bought "Runners" and they hope the possible legislation to increase the speed might persuade more people to drive down the road and bring in business.
"The road is well built," says Chief Deputy Tommy Smith.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office agrees with the speed increase on the road, they say the road can handle higher speeds.
Tom Hansed of the Logan Economic Alliance says some truckers and travelers actually skip the road, because of the low speeds.
Hansed says increasing the speed would bring through more tourists and could help the local economy.
But the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says that raising the speed on a road where there are many businesses and homes would cause problems.
The bill has been assigned to the State Transportation Committee.
