Library Fines = Food for Children

By Associated Press |

Several libraries in western Kentucky will be accepting food donations to help pay overdue book fines in November.

The libraries will take $1 off a patron's fine for every food donated during the month.

The Messenger reports that both the Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library and the Dawson Springs Public Library will both participate in the "Food for Fines" program.

The food items will be distributed to the family resource centers in local schools and will be sent home with children as part of weekend food backpack programs.
