The community's tireless efforts to save the Warren County Academic and Aquatics Center from closing its doors may have paid off.

A plea was made to the Fiscal Court for an extended deadline, to raise money and keep the pool afloat.

We're very happy I think you can see all the people behind me were very happy,"says Betty Rose, a pool patron.

And what may have seemed impossible, raising $178,0000 in one week, may now be possible.

"We've been working really hard to find a last minute solution, and we have a corporate sponsor right here in town that is willing to step up and help us keep the pool open,"says Chris Kummer, Executive Director of Warren County Parks.

The interest of a sponsor helped the Fiscal Court make a decision in favor of the pool.

"We approved two more weeks for the pool because it is my belief that we have a sponsor that will keep the pool open for a year,"says Mike Buchanon, Warren County Judge-Executive.

And one aerobics instructor could not be any happier with the outcome.

"Praise God, just really thankful were not going to continue to put health and wellness at the bottom,"says Dianne Kinser.

Kinser says the pool is a place of healing.

"It's really really important to me. I've seen lots of people's lives change."

"It has lowered my pulse rate by 15 points, just swimming twice a week so I feel were much healthier for it,"says Rose.

"It's helped me I've gone to this pool for three years, and as long as I continue with it I'm limber and I can move like I did 20 years ago,"says June Alcott, a pool patron.

The final hurdle is to confirm the corporate sponsor will donate the money.

Kummer will be back in Fiscal Court on March 8Th.

He hopes to be have the sponsor with him so they can announce their plan to keep the Aquatics Center open.
