Lightning Hits Kentucky Downs in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Wednesday afternoon's severe weather caused five people at Kentucky Downs to be taken to the hospital.

Nick Hughes, the track's General Manager and Senior Vice-President, told WBKO that lightning hit a tin pole, traveled to the ground, and shocked the small group of spectators.

Hughes said two of them walked to an ambulance to be taken to the hospital, while three of them drove themselves.

Hughes said races five through ten have been canceled for the day.
