Local Choir Honors Woman For Years Of Service

A very vocal woman received a special tribute at New Bethel Baptist Church Sunday morning.

Ellie Sue Johnson, a 40 year member of the church choir, for honored by parishioners for her caring spirit and dedication to the church.

Dozens of people stood up and said how Johnson has touched and changed their lives.

Johnson's granddaughter was moved by how many people care about her grandmother.

"To see that other people see what I see too and feel as strongly as I do for my grandmother, and their not even family, and her blood is not even in their veins, to still feel and care about like they do is just so overwhelming, its joyful," says Kristin Smith.

Members of the senior choir put the tribute together, which came as a surprise to Johnson.
