Local Pastor Discusses Meaning of Christmas

"The season of Advent is preparing us for the celebration of Christmas, so I've been preaching for weeks to the congregation here at Holy Spirit and St. Joseph School, that all this preparation if we don't try and remember what it is we're truly preparing for, then it's for nothing almost," said Holy Spirit Catholic Church Pastor Rev. John M. Thomas.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- With all the shopping, gift wrapping and cooking, Father John M. Thomas at Holy Spirit Catholic Church says it can be easy to forget what he says is the true meaning of the season. He says studies show people are more generous around Christmas, and he says at his church, he preaches about preparing for more than opening presents at Christmas.

John M. Thomas.

Father John Thomas says Holy Spirit will continue their celebration of Christ's birth tonight with mass at 5p.m. and 10:30p.m., and 9a.m. tomorrow.
