Local Stores Busy With Lottery Fever

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - $600 million is up for grabs and plenty of people are taking advantage.

A steady stream of customers stopped by local convenience stores, like Minit Mart on Morgantown Road, to purchase their Powerball ticket. The jackpot increased to $600 million late Friday morning. The drawing is Saturday night and local convenience stores say they have extra staff on hand to handle the increase in customers.

"On average when it's down low we probably see 100 people or so. Tomorrow night we will probably see between 500 to 1,000 people trying to buy the lottery," says store manager Rhonda Smith.

The Minit Mart on Morgantown Road in Bowling Green has had lottery winners in the past. Rhonda Smith hopes one of her customers walk away with the big jackpot Saturday night.
