Fire at Southern Recycling Plant

Authorities spent the afternoon trying to get a fire under control at the Southern Recycling Plant.

The fire broke out at around two o'clock this afternoon at the plant on Clay Street.

Authorities are not sure what started the blaze, but they suspect workers were welding steel when a spark was picked up by the wind and landed in a pile of scrap.

There was no structural damage and no one was hurt in the blaze.
