Some local Western Kentucky University students made a rest stop Monday in their cross country bike ride. Nine students left International Falls on May 25th for a 3,000 mile ride.
They met at Covington Park to visit family and friends before departing for their final destination of Key West, Florida. The cyclists are raising money for Alzheimer's research, a disease they want everyone to become aware of.
"Alzhemier's is the sixth deadliest disease in the U.S. and right now it is the only one in the top ten that doesn't have a cure or any good form of treatment, so we are just trying to make sure that the country is aware of this awful disease and we are putting in the appropriate funds to find a cure," says Will Owens.
The cyclists hope to raise $175,000. You can donate and check their progress at www.Bike4alz.org.
