A Kentucky man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for aiding in the escape of inmate from a Mississippi prison 2009.

At the time, Joseph Jackson Jr. was serving a life sentence for armed robbery and assault in Delta Correctional Facility in Leflore County, Miss.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports that a Leflore County jury on Wednesday convicted Courtney Logan of Louisville, Ky., of aiding escape, possession of a firearm by a felon and five counts of kidnapping.

Prosecutors say Logan, identified as Jackson's cousin, broke into a Greenwood eye doctor's office on June 26, 2009, where Jackson was being treated. Logan and Jackson headed to Tennessee where they were caught after shooting a Nashville police officer during a traffic stop.
