Louisville Child In Critical Condition After Shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Louisville police say a four-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the face and went to Kosair Children's Hospital with critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/1fGRKL2 ) the incident happened late Saturday afternoon at the boy's home. Smiley didn't have any information about how the child got the gun.

The shooting was reported about 3:30 p.m. at the home, where the child's mother, a two-year-old girl and an infant were found inside. There were no injuries to the other three occupants. The relationship among the children was not immediately known.

The child's grandmother, Cynthia Thompson, cried while preparing to go to the hospital. Thompson said "I have no clue" about what happened.

Reports said the child's name is Kamarion Posey and he remains in critical condition.

There is no word whether charges will be filed or not.
