Louisville Prosecutor Suspended Because of Email

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A Jefferson County prosecutor has been suspended for three days after sending an email to a judge about the criminal record of a man involved in a divorce and custody case.

Assistant Jefferson County Attorney Ben Wyman also faces an investigation by the Kentucky Bar Association.

Wyman sent the email to Jefferson Family Court Judge Eleanore Garber in March, saying Andrew Stich had been charged with drunken driving five times and had recently failed a drug test. Wyman was prosecuting Stich on drunken driving and resisting arrest charges

Wyman, the judge and others involved agree the email violated state Supreme Court rules forbidding attorneys from one-sided contact with a judge to influence the outcome of a pending case.
