Bowling Green, Ky. (WBKO) -- MR Group president, Clinton Mills, announced the acquisition of Mariah’s restaurant and MR Group’s plan to move the restaurant into their first-floor development at Hitcents Park Plaza. MR Group will initially open five restaurants in the development and each will represent a unique dining experience.
Three fast-casual concepts will feature Asian, Mexican and Italian cuisine. Fast casual restaurants are the fastest growing segment in the industry as they offer the guest a quality product in an inviting atmosphere and at a lower price point. There will also be two
full-service restaurants, a sports bar opening in early March, and Mariah’s as the anchor restaurant.
In explaining their decision Mills said, “Mariah’s has been a landmark in downtown Bowling Green for almost 34 years, and the restaurant has an exceptionally loyal customer base. Mariah’s staff and management are the best, and they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the deal. We are ecstatic to be in a position to own Mariah’s and make it the centerpiece of our development.”
Mills also revealed that MR Group has hired Mariah’s long-time General Manager, Jodi Fleming, to be the General Manager for MR Group’s restaurants. “Jodi is the consummate leader in the hospitality industry and her 31 years of experience at Mariah’s will be a tremendous asset to our development,” Mills said.
Mariah’s restaurant will remain open at its current location until April 2014. Mariah’s gift cards, Groupons and all points accumulated through its rewards program will be honored at the new location. All reservations at Mariah’s will be fulfilled at the current location until closing and transferred to the new banquet room facilities at Hitcents Park Plaza thereafter.
