With Christmas just around the corner the Medical Center is giving you a chance to help those less fortunate through the annual Make the Season Bright event.

The ceremony is not just about giving back, it's about remembering lost loved ones.

"People can make donations and sponsor a light on our special tree and those donations are in honor of memory of a loved one," says Tony Whitty, Commonwealth Health Foundation.

As Cheri Hall decorates her family Christmas tree this year she is also donating lights to decorate another tree.

"I put these three on, ones for my daddy, the next year it was my sister, and the last one was for my boy,"says Hall.

The most recent light is to celebrate the life of her 18 year old son Bradley who died in 2008.

"Bradley was going to UK to be an engineer like his daddy and he was gone on a Christian Retreat with some of his friends and they were coming home and they were almost back to UK but they did not make it. They ended up in a car wreck,"says Hall.

Through her loss Cheri is able to give back.

"For a minimum donation of $10 they can sponsor one of the lights on the tree behind me, and that money goes directly to the free clinic,"says Whitty.

"Two people I know myself got their teeth fixed and repaired because people donated money with the tree light," says Hall.

"They helped me to be able to keep coming to the dentist,"says a patient at the Dental Clinic.

Cheri finds comfort in the light sponsored in Bradley's name.

"The light shine on the tree that represents someone they cared about they will be remembered and never forgotten,"says Hall.

The tree lighting ceremony at The Medical Center will start night tomorrow at 5:30.

There will be caroling and a special appearance by Santa Claus.
