A western Kentucky jury has convicted a man of killing a woman in 2010, and jurors will next consider whether to sentence him to death.
The Paducah Sun said Mark Taylor showed no reaction when jurors returned the verdict Thursday night. He was convicted of murder, kidnapping and tampering with evidence in the death of 21-year-old CaSondra Evrard.
Evrard was found dead in a creek bed with stab wounds to her chest and cuts to her neck and face on Dec. 11, 2010.
The McCracken Circuit Court jury deliberated about 8 1/2 hours Friday after hearing closing arguments. The sentencing phase will begin Friday morning.
Six other people were charged in connection with the case. Five pleaded guilty, and one is scheduled for trial in March.
