Man Dies After Being Thrown From Boat into Ohio River

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) -- Authorities say a man has died after being thrown from a boat into the Ohio River near New Albany.

Indiana Conservation Officer Jim Schreck says two fishermen were aboard a runabout boat when the boat's motor struck an underwater object, throwing one of the men overboard. The victim quickly resurfaced and was assisted back into the boat before losing consciousness.

Schreck says a boat from the Louisville, Kentucky, Fire Department and another recreational boat provided help before the victim was taken to the New Albany Boat ramp and given CPR. The victim was later pronounced dead at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, which is across the river from Louisville.

The victim's name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
