LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Police say an officer shot and killed a man who had been attempting to rob a fast food restaurant in Louisville.
According to WAVE-TV (http://bit.ly/1aPg8LK), the man broke into the Kentucky Fried Chicken around 8 a.m. Sunday.
Chief of Police Steve Conrad said when officers arrived on the scene they saw a man wearing a bandana and several people bound and laying on the floor.
He said the suspect then grabbed a hostage and fled into some back woods.
Conrad said the hostage was able to break away before the suspect began firing at officers in pursuit. He said one of the officers returned fire and hit the man, who apparently died at the scene.
The man has not been identified. Conrad did not elaborate on whether there would be further investigation of the shooting.
