UPDATE: Man Missing in Elkhorn Creek After Falling In

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The name of a man swept away in Elkhorn Creek east of Frankfort has been released, but crews have not been able to recover a body spotted in the water.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton identified the man as 28-year-old Buford J. Barron III of Scott County.

Melton told the Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/1dac2dU ) the body was spotted from a boat and helicopter around noon Monday but went back under water before Frankfort firefighters could retrieve it.

Barron went under the water after slipping on a rock while fishing with a friend Sunday night.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- A recovery operation continues in Franklin County, where a fisherman fell into Elkhorn Creek.

Sheriff Pat Melton says his office was notified about 7 p.m. Sunday that a man in his late 20s had fallen into the creek off Highway 460.

The call was made by a friend who had gone fishing with the victim. Authorities have not released the name of the missing man. The search was to resume after dawn Monday.
