CORBIN, Ky. (AP) — A southern Kentucky man has pleaded not guilty to charges he poured gasoline on himself and his wife and threatened to light a fire.

The Times-Tribune reported that 48-year-old Russell L. Knickerbocker of Corbin is being held at the Whitley County Detention Center on $300,000 cash bond.

Police say officers were called to Knickerbocker's home on March 16 and found him and his wife, Carla Knickerbocker, covered with gasoline. Officers say Knickerbocker then threatened to light himself and his wife on fire.

A standoff ensued, but Corbin Fire Department firefighters were able to hit the man with a stream of water, ending the threat.
