Man Says He Stole, Then Returned Tractor

SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) -- Police in Somerset have arrested a Tennessee man in the theft of a tractor, which was then returned.

Derek Cross is charged with felony theft.

Richard New of Southern Oaks Funeral Home told WYMT-TV in Hazard (http://bit.ly/R44gKZ ) that Cross called him and apologized, saying he was the man who took the $13,000 tractor and that he had brought it back.

Police said Cross, who is 35, confessed to taking the tractor. He told New he couldn't stand what people were saying about him on social media after he was recognized from surveillance video the TV station broadcast. Cross told police he is married, has two children and is an ordained minister. He told the TV station only that it was "just a mistake."

Cross was released on bond Wednesday.
