A Rochester man is searching for information on the person responsible for the abuse that lead to the death of a black Labrador dog, and why is he going to great lengths to make sure justice is served?
Michael porter is known in Butler County for rescuing stray dogs so when Sandy Priddy saw an injured black Lab she knew exactly who to call.
"He was so pitiful, his head, the first thing I noticed was this huge head on this tiny body and it looked like an animal that just had bones with fur draped over it," said Sandy Priddy.
Porter was shocked when he found the black Labrador mix, about two years old, suffered from severe abuse.
"The wound around his neck was like 2 inches wide and probably 3 quarters of an inch deep,"said Michael Porter, President of the Animal Assistance Program in Butler County.
The mechanical gasket around the dog's neck caused it to starve and eventually bleed to death.
"Wednesday night the main artery in his neck blew out and he bled to death," said Porter.
Porter even offered $1,000 out of his own pocket for any information.
"Anybody that would do something like this needs to be brought to justice,"says Porter.
And his message now...
"We got to get this stopped anybody who would do something like that to a dog, a poor helpless dog, a little old Lab mix about 2 years old, is sick."
The U.S Humane Society is now offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
If you have any information that could help find the person responsible you can contact the Butler County Sheriffs Office at 270-526-3676.
