Man in Custody after Police Chase

By Michael Gossum |

Police say 23-year-old Wesley T. Graves led them on a chase this afternoon that had parts of Interstate 65 closed for a couple hours.

The police report says a Glasgow police officer tried to arrest Graves in Glasgow at Wal-Mart for a probation violation.

He refused and led them into a pursuit that required help from Kentucky State Police.

Police say they were able to catch Graves on the north entrance ramp of I-65 at Cave City, but Graves tried to run an officer over when he got out of his car.

Police say the officer fired four shots, but missed Graves.

KSP says they were able to stop the pursuit on I-65 at mile marker 70 in Hart County.

Graves was treated for minor injuries and was arrested for fleeing police and wanton endangerment.

Police say additional charges are pending.

Traffic came to a standstill for roughly two hours but as of about 5:45, those waiting in traffic said it was again moving.
