Man Charged with Animal Cruelty Found Dead
Kentucky State Police say the death of a man charged last week with 218 counts of animal cruelty, appears to be suicide.

CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (AP) -- Police spokesman Michael Webb told The Courier-Journal 71-year-old Kenneth Smith of Campbellsburg, died of a gunshot wound that was apparently self-inflicted, according to a preliminary report.
The U.S. Marshals Service said Smith and his wife were charged Friday, after animal control officials in Henry County removed more than 200 mistreated animals from their home.
