Hundreds gathered at the March of Dimes annual Signature Chefs Auction in Bowling Green tonight.

It's stories of success like the Richards family. who nearly lost their daughter to preterm birth, that the March of Dimes hopes they can make possible.

"We cannot thank the March of Dimes enough for the surfactant therapy for Kayleigh's lungs... the 17P shots for Kyler. Everything they have done.. all their research... and everyone's support of the March of Dimes, because without the March of Dimes, we don't know where our family would be today," said March of Dimes Ambassador Family Stephanie and Adam Richards.

Their daughter Kayleigh was later diagnosed with spina bifida, but she went on to beat the odds again, and take her first steps at last year's March of Dimes Walk for Babies.
The March of Dimes is continually developing new research and therapies to prevent birth defects, prematurity, and infant mortality.

"Events like this help us raise money that fund research... community grants... education... advocacy... everything to help local people in our community have healthy babies," said March of Dimes' Mandy Skees.

Fifteen local restaurants donated their time and food to help the organization's cause.

"It's a way to give back. So many things if you don't have a whole lot of money, but you do have time, and I love to create pretty things, and this is a very good cause, they've been doing this for a long time from what I understand, but this is our first year," said Sweet Temptations Owner Dafnel Fulcher.

The event drew in nearly 300 people, and Skees hopes it will raise about $30,000 for March of Dimes to continue making a difference in the lives of families like the Richards.
