LEBANON, Ky. (WBKO) -- A year ago, a Marion County sheriff's deputy was gunned down during a traffic stop. Last night, the community gathered to remember him.
Deputy Anthony Rakes was killed in the early hours of November 14th, 2012 after stopping to check on a driver parked on the side of the road.
Dewayne Shipp was later arrested and charged with his murder.
Last night, more than 150 people gathered at the Marion County courthouse. The sheriff announced a memorial will be put up at the courthouse to honor Rakes. They hope to have it up by may of next year.
