Mars Mission Details Unfold

The Mars One Foundation says they plan to launch an unmanned mission to mars in 2018. If successful, they hope to send humans to the "Red Planet" in 2025 for the first privately funded planetary exploration mission.

NETHERLANDS (WBKO) -- More than 200,000 people have signed up for a mission to Mars, and they will not just be going there for a visit.

The Mars One Foundation says they plan to launch an unmanned mission to mars in 2018. If successful, they hope to send humans to the "Red Planet" in 2025 for the first privately funded planetary exploration mission.

Out of the thousands who applied, four people will be given a one way ticket to colonize life on Mars.

The group says the application period for this mission is now closed, and they are going to start notifying people who made it to the second round.
